Did you know that the United Kingdom is closing in on the U.S. in terms of flexible working? In the U.K over 53% of companies now offer their staff some kind of flexible working, in comparison with 85 percent of U.S. companies And this figure represents major growth over just five years ago. That attention-getting statistic illustrates how mobility needs continue to grow and evolve in the global workforce. Younger workers in particular are mindful of the environmental impact that commuting has and so are looking at ways in which they can reduce this effect.
These include remote working initiatives, which employees are highlighting to their managers.
“Many people have to endure this arduous experience of commuting every day. But … there is now a generation coming in and saying various old habits that applied in the past don’t need to apply now,” Peter Thomson, director of research at the Telework Association explained.
It comes after the expert recently claimed that allowing staff the option to work from home can not only help to boost staff satisfaction, but will also lead to greater productivity.
Our own Peterborough Eco Innovation Centre is attracting increasing enquiries from people looking for alternative workplace solutions—and mobile is the keyword du jour.
Internal data shows that working from home is not just for start-ups and entrepreneurs anymore. Indeed, there is great diversity in the types of workers who are leveraging business centers and virtual office solutions. These workers come from small companies and large companies alike, as well as the entrepreneurial workforce.
Wherever they come from, these workers are mobile—at least part of the time. They may work from home in the early morning, come into the Eco Innovation Centre to work quietly before a lunch meeting with a client, and travel to a different city in the afternoon for a presentation the next morning. Or, they may work from home full-time using virtual office technologies, and rent a hour/day “touchdown” office space at a the Eco Innovation Centre when they need to meet with a client.
Some want low-cost telephony, such as fully-featured digital solutions or even just a VOIP connection. Others want live receptionists and a more standard phone system. Here at the Eco Innovation Centre we aim to offer mobile workers what they want when they want it, even in this ever changing sector.
The Eco Innovation Centre’s Virtual Solutions are not designed to be an alternative to our serviced office space. Our Virtual packages are designed to complement our physical solutions by making the workplace more flexible.
Studies around virtual office space benefits—better work-life balance, improved employee satisfaction and motivation, greater staff productivity, employee loyalty, and the ability to scale up quickly to cope with rapid growth are certainly nothing new—surveys and actual usage are two different things.
Here at the Eco Innovation Centre we are beginning to see companies of all sizes deciding leverage technologies that empower mobile workers and are committed to matching the increasing demands and requirements of this growth, from offering packages from just £10 per calender month with increasing services such as Reception services, dedicated telephone line(s) answered in your specified title, “touchdown” (hourly/daily/weekly rentable) offices, dedicated meeting rooms, conferencing and event facilities and management to our Eco Virtual Assistant offering – Eco Virtual Assistants offers a professional and flexible service at affordable prices. From telephone answering services to event planning/diary management as well as all of your general administration requirements such as Invoicing, payment chasing and even your social media marketing.
